Bill and Judy Heim
craft:
Functional, Contemporary Pottery
Bill and Judy Heim’s farm in Middle Tennessee provides inspiration for
their functional, contemporary pottery. The influence of nature is
reflected in forms which use a leaf or horse motif and the glazes which
use ash from their wood burning stove.
Red
Oak pottery is wheel-thrown and hand trimmed by both artists. Many
surfaces are scribed or carved. Each piece is fired in an electric
kiln, glazed, and fired again in a propane fueled kiln. This stoneware
pottery is food and dishwasher safe.
Whether you
are drawn to Judy’s carved leaf and horse shapes or Bill’s individually
pulled handles, the artists enjoy sharing with others the beauty that
is a part of their everyday life.
